As a member of the Logistics team, you will contribute to the daily operations of the Network Infrastructure & Services warehouse facility and other equipment locations. The Logistics team is responsible for the management of all equipment and material stored by NI&S. In general,
the equipment and materials managed by the Logistics team is used to support Virginia Tech’s communications networks.
Although not limited to the following, the position’s responsibilities will include:
● Performing inventory cycle counts.
● Assist the Receiving Clerk with receiving and tagging materials and equipment.
● Perform field inventory audits to verify assigned equipment locations and locate missing assets.
● Assist the Issuance Clerk with issuing materials and equipment to work orders or staging locations.
● Ensure project and inventory stock materials and equipment are stored in appropriate locations.
● Delivery of materials and equipment to job sites or other university locations.
● As needed, assist with moving and hauling furniture, materials, equipment, etc.
● Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
● Must be able to communicate effectively and maintain highly accurate documentation.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and able to effectively function as a team member with the ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions.
● Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and have a background check with favorable results.
● Demonstrated ability to safely operate storeroom/maintenance equipment such as power tools, pallet jack, dolly and forklift.
● Ability to work independently, coordinate work with others, and make decisions within prescribed guidelines.
● Ability to safely move and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
● Basic knowledge and understanding of warehousing and inventory control.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
● Basic knowledge of computers.
