Fertile Ground: The Virginia Biotech Ecosystem and the Advancement of Human Health
With the launching of the Virginia Research Investment Fund in 2016, the state of Virginia began a series of significant investments to support Biotechnology and making growth of the sector an explicit priority. Subsequent state investments in Virginia Catalyst, the construction of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in Roanoke, and the establishment of the Paul & Diane Manning Institute for Biotechnology at the University of Virginia have all reinforced this commitment, as have other commitments supporting acceleration efforts in Richmond, Charlottesville, and Roanoke.
At our October speaker series, our panel of ecosystem leaders will discuss the outlook for Biotech in Virginia, including resourcing at the local level, points of collaboration within and between the state’s biotech ecosystems, and the essential role of research universities in each major ecosystem.
