Network Infrastructure and Services (NI&S) is part of the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. We provide advanced network, communications, public safety, and data center services. We design, deploy, and operate enterprise scale network, systems, monitoring, and communication services. NI&S is a dynamic and exciting organization with a commitment to continuous improvement and is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill this role.

Reporting to the Director of Architecture and Design, as a Product Manager you will be the interface between product stakeholders, customers, and agile development teams. In collaboration with key stakeholders, you will develop an understanding of the business need(s) to be fulfilled, translate needs into a vision for the product, and are responsible for the overall success of the solution being developed. The primary objective of this position is to own the product vision and maximize the value delivered to customers and stakeholders.

As a Product Manager you will have an opportunity to engage with stakeholders and customers to deliver high value products and services to help support the university mission by:
● Leading the product vision and strategy for assigned product/s
● Working with customers and stakeholders to analyze needs and align product roadmap and vision
● Developing reporting to enhance visibility or the product/s progress and performance
● Developing and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement
● Guiding the planning process for development of assigned product/s
● Working with UX/UI designers to enhance user experience for assigned product/s
● Utilizing agile methodologies to manage the product development process
● Specifying that products are ready for production deployment after verifying that the product has been tested in pre-production in a timely manner
● Creating a culture that thrives on rapid experimentation and continuous improvement to drive innovation time to value

Required Qualifications

● Master’s degree in business, STEM, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with training and experience equivalent to a master’s degree
● Experience as a Product Manager/Owner for a software product or technology service
● Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, processes, and tools
● Experience with business process design and modeling complex domains
● Experience navigating and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
● Demonstrated experience of driving successful customer and stakeholder engagements leading to successful outcomes
● Experience defining and reporting on product metrics to measure outcomes
● Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

● Scrum Product Owner Certification
● Experience in development or ownership of a web application
● Understanding of the tools and technologies used to deliver web applications like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
● Demonstrated ability to leverage automation to enhance product capabilities and development velocity
