Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced technician to contribute to the development of cellular therapies. Luminary Therapeutics is a biotechnology company in the Minneapolis metro area that focuses on development of state-of-the-art cancer treatments. Prior hands-on experience with the culture of mammalian cells is required. Investigation will focus on producing and characterizing engineered T cells using in vitro systems. Other duties may include laboratory management and inventory, bioanalytical method development, and sample processing and analysis in support of cell therapy platforms. Responsibilities
- Cell culture and analysis of cell lines and primary human cells, as needed
- Collaborate with the CAR T platform development team to perform in vitro characterization of novel CAR- T cells in cell-based assays
- Perform routine and non-routine tests using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments
- Receive, process, and cryopreserve cell samples as required
- Experience with flow cytometry and magnetic cell separations a plus, but not required
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, both with scientific leads and independently
- Analyze and interpret data, prepare summary tables and review raw data
- Assist with writing of SOPs, study plans and reports
- Maintain an organized and up to date lab notebook
- Identify, monitor and manage external providers for sourcing of specific critical reagents and activities
- Order and keep accurate inventories of supplies for laboratory needs and forecast future needs based on projected needs
- Coordinate with external contract laboratories to generate novel reagents that compliment CAR products and facilitate product characterization and clinical correlative assays
- Maintain database of Certificates of Analysis and Material Safety Data Sheets
- Opportunities to learn manufacturing and analysis skills relevant to cellular therapies

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
- 1-2 years of experience working in a lab
- Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
- Analytical and numerical skills: Ability to perform scientific mathematical calculations (reagent preparation, concentration adjustment, etc) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to write correspondence and reports
- Excellent organizational skills
- Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels
Working Environment
- Work is generally performed in an office, laboratory, or manufacturing environment
- Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, toxic materials, and hazardous waste
- Personal protective equipment required, such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
Position Type
- This is a full-time position
- Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours as published in the Luminary Therapeutics Employee Handbook
- Weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required as needed
