The Virginia Tech Foundation and Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center name Training & Event Center after former research park president & CEO
On July 15, 2021, the Training & Event Center was named the Joseph W. Meredith Training & Event Center honoring the research park’s former president & CEO.
The following ceremony speakers spoke about Dr. Meredith and his 27 years of leadership and contributions to the research park and community.

- John Dooley, Ph.D., Former Virginia Tech Foundation CEO and current Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics
- Raymond Smoot, Jr. Ph.D., CEO Emeritus, Virginia Tech Foundation
- David and Teresa Ehrlich, Founders Renaissance Music Academy
- Kami Razvan, Ph.D., Founder Click & Pledge
Dr. Meredith was presented with 1) President Emeritus resolution, 2) Naming resolution and plaque, and 3) certificate announcing the Joseph W. Meredith Scholarship created in recognition of his passion and love for music and support of the Renaissance Music Academy. The scholarship will support children for years to come who cannot afford music lessons. Dr. Razvan closed out the ceremony with a personal story and a video that honored Dr. Meredith with many appearances by those he inspired over the years.
Guests enjoyed music by Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia student, Albert Newberry. Nearly $8,000 has been raised for the scholarship. RMA will continue to fundraise.
